I love words. The play in them, how they can twist and turn and stir you to try something entirely new. Or help you to mop the floor.
They scare me too. Big words I do not understand. How they can carry things like tone and innuendo, how they can break bones.
I’ve made the move to Substack, here, in hopes of teasing out my words, of developing and folding into my creative practice more words. Not words just for the sake of words, but words that help me to reflect, to improve. Words that encourage and make clear.
I imagine my words will come out as they do. Little blurts. Abstract paintings. Collage fodder ready for poetic lists. It’s what they do. And I’m imagining (and admittedly quite daunted by my bold declaration) that in sharing my words I may become a better writer.
Here’s to trying. Here’s to seeing. Here’s to finding out how.
